Sri Krishnadevaraya University (SKU), located in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, was established in 1981. Named after the illustrious Vijayanagara emperor Sri Krishnadevaraya, the university was set up to cater to the higher education needs of the Rayalaseema region. It started as a postgraduate center of Sri Venkateswara University and became an autonomous institution in 1981.
